I served in the Australian Army and spent more than a decade with NSW Police, finishing in counter-terrorism tactical operations. In that world, no plan survives first contact. What holds is what has been built in, not what has been written down.
Since then I've held senior operational roles across FMCG, major infrastructure and a major Australian alpine resort, leading risk across 14 departments and a seasonal workforce of up to 1,300.
That work showed me a pattern: controls collected in response to incidents, reports that measure activity, and oversight mistaken for protection. Control-Focused Risk Management, with CAM at its centre, is the method I built to close that gap, developed during my Master's studies and refined in practice.
